At Le Verger, our Open Writers’ Retreats have for the last fifteen years offered our writers the time and space to start (or complete) that novel, collection of poems, memoir or stage play in conducive surroundings with the feedback and support of other writers. Some 75% of our writers return to us yearly. Our tutored Speculative Fiction retreat is led by an award winning SF writer. Our new Post-Graduate Retreat brings together academics working across a wide range of specialisms. Listed each year with the Writers' & Artists' Year Book, we welcome and support people working on any creative project.

With over 75 successful participants in 15 years, French A-level revision at Le Verger offers a total-immersion, residential French revision course to get you speaking confidently in real-life contexts. Besides the original Easter revision course, we have now opened a Summer course by popular demand. You’ll meet and exchange with a local Mayor, the director of an office de tourisme, and interview French citizens in the street. As highly experienced and specialized husband and wife team teachers in both French and English, we make reading, writing and interacting in French effortless and fun. A trained interpreter and a published novelist, David’s course ensures tried and tested vocabulary memorization strategies, as well as help with the prescribed texts and films.

The retreat run by David and Michèle Lambert is - for me - one of the very best places to write. The setting is lovely, the hospitality fantastic but more than this: there is a great sense of both peace and productivity.

I simply wouldn’t have a novel or an agent without Le Verger. Thank you doesn’t cut it.

"Le Verger was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone studying AS or A2 level French no matter what grade you are hoping to get. It helped me become so much more confident in my speaking, especially constructing a debate and discussion. David & Michèle are excellent teachers, always very encouraging, but also making sure you challenge yourself to improve." Jenny, Hills Road Sixth Road College, Cambridge
